Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Monday assented to the state’s 2020 Appropriation Bill of N108.4 billion passed by the state assembly. Sule, while signing the budget at the Government House in Lafia, urged members of the state executive council to ensure its effective implementation for the development of the state. He commended the speaker and members of the state assembly for giving the budget expeditious passage. The Speaker of the state assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi , who witnessed the signing, thanked the governor for encouraging heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to cooperate with the assembly to facilitate the speedy passage. Balarabe-Abduallhi said that the “Nasarawa State Project” was a collective responsibility that all citizens were duty bound to strive to achieve. New West Ham manager David Moyes says winning is “what he does”, and added that the club’s owners had showed “a lot of class” in bringing him back for a second spell in charge. Moyes, who replaces the sacked Manuel Pellegrini, left the Hammers at the end of the 2017-18 season. He recorded nine wins and 10 draws from 31 games in his first spell, leading the club to Premier League safety. “They are getting a very experienced Premier League manager,” said Moyes. “I think there’s only two or three managers with a better Premier League win record. The Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr Muhammad Babandede, on Monday reiterated his commitment to fighting drugs and substance abuse among the service personnel. Babandede made the assertion in a statement by Mr Sunday James, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NIS, in Abuja. He said efforts were being made to ensure that the service was rid of drugs and substance abuse among the personnel, adding that those armed would be thoroughly tested. The News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Babandede had earlier directed that the personnel should go through test to ensure none was found abusing drugs, saying it was dangerous to handle weapons while on drugs. NAN further reports that Babandede said those found guilty would face the necessary punishment from the service according to the laws guiding the NIS. A male child has been confirmed dead in a Sunday accident that occurred at about 1330hrs on the Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway around Alafia J3. The Federal Road Safety Corps said the child died after he was taken to hospital along nine other injured persons. The Ogun FRSC spokesperson, Florence Okpe, in a statement on Monday, said a total of 19 people were involved in the road crash, comprising 11 men, four women, two boys, and two girls. Okpe said a total of 10 persons were injured 5 male adults, 4 female adults and 1 female child, saying “they were all rescued alive from the crash scene, to the State Hospital Ijebu Ode.” “However, in line with the World Health Organisation’s standard practice, the FRSC Officer in Charge of Ogbere Outpost, near Ijebu Ode, visited the hospital to follow up on their medical treatment. “He discovered that one of the victims died from the injuries sustained from the crash.
