The Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has pointed an accusing finger on the Military in Baga Town where his convoy was attacked, saying that if the military will not clear Baga, his government will mobilize local hunters, CJTF, and Vigilantes to recapture the town as they cannot fold their hands and keep waiting. The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 21-year-old Tari Logos over the July 22, 2020 shooting to death of a businessman, Chief Abraham Bayefa, in Yenagoa, the state capital. The businessman was allegedly killed along the Aritalin junction area of Ovom community in the state capital. It was learnt that Bayefa was shot dead at a close range by suspected cultists for his intervention while they attempted to raid owners of some business centres and shops close to his house. A niece of the deceased, Miss Timipa Bayefa, claimed that Bayefa was shot dead on the spot by two armed cultists while robbing one of the shops close to his house at Aritalin. It was further learnt that one of the suspects was immediately apprehended by a vigilance group and taken to the police while his accomplices escaped. A newly married military officer, Lieutenant Babakaka Shehu Ngorgi of the 202 Battalion, has been discovered to be actually killed by a fellow soldier in Bama, Borno State. It was earlier reported that he was killed by Boko Haram insurgents but further checks have now revealed that Ngorgi was talking to his wife when one of his colleagues shot him from the back six times. The attacker, according to a source, was heard shouting after the incident that:- “I have achieved my aim”. It is not yet clear why the soldier killed Lt Ngorgi, who is his senior in the army and on the battlefield.
