Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of Osun on Tuesday presented N1.13 billion bond certificates to 189 retirees as their retirement packages. Oyetola, while presenting the bond certificates in Osogbo, said the sum of N474, 753,13 would be shared among 105 retired local government employees, while N538,696,783 would be shared among 84 retired primary school teachers. Dr Ibrahim Kana, Chairman, National Medical Team, released the figure Tuesday in Madinah from the commission’s National Medical Team Electronic Health Medical Records. “ So far, Nigeria has lost five pilgrims including three females and two males; out of which one died in Madina while the remaining four died in the city of Makkah. “They all died of various illnesses including heart and lung diseases. “Records shows that so far in both Makkah and Madina, we have made 10, 485 diagnosis with Makkah accounting for over 60 per cent. “Additionally, 108 referrals were made to various Saudi Arabian hospitals after keeping 45 pilgrims on observation for variety of illnesses in the four facilities in Madina and another five in Makkah. “In order to ameliorate suffering of pilgrims, all the clinics are located within a stone throw to pilgrims’ accommodation in both Makk

The Lagos State University (LASU) says it will open the registration and payment portal for the 2019/2020 online admission screening from midnight of Aug. 1 to Aug. 16. The university official bulletin obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday said the screening of the prospective students would be based on Point Grading System (PGS). It said the PGS would include the use of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score and the five best relevant subjects of the 100 level and direct entry 200 level candidates’ choice of courses. The university said the exercise was a mandatory requirement for entry into the institution and only candidates who scored a minimum of 190 marks were eligible to participate. ‘’ Candidates must also be 16 years of age by October 1, 2019 ,’’ it said. Nollywood actress Kemi Afolabi has been rushed to a hospital in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The actress, who is in Saudi Arabia to perform hajj, fell ill due to the stress associated with the hajj exercise. The Borno State Governor, Prof Umara Zulum paid an unscheduled visit to Umaru Shehu Ultra-Modern Hospital and the State Specialist hospital, last night. At Umaru Shehu Ultra-Modern Hospital, he met patients in pathetic condition and could not find a single doctor on duty. As a result of their absence, Prof Zulum had to place a call to all the 10 medical Doctors on duty, but none of them answered the call not knowing it was the Governor that was calling. Only 10 nurses were found on duty out of about 138 nurses on the payroll. The Governor went round all the wards to see the situations of the patients and later requested for the hospital’s staff pay book and made role call. At the State Specialist Hospital, some few medical doctors were on duty when the Govenor arrived. However, the Governor was not satisfied by the quality of services rendered at both Hospitals. A dead body has been found in the house of Arsenal star, Mohamed Elneny in Egypt, according to Gazetta. Egyptian police are now investigating the matter after the corpse was discovered by the player’s father. The newspaper reports that Elneny’s dad immediately notified the authorities after he discovered the ‘lifeless body inside his son’s home.’ The house, close to the city of Mahalla Al-Kubra, is currently under construction.
