The Lagos State Government is on the trail of about 60,000 people, who tested positive to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) but did not go back for treatment. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu charged the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) to find the individuals for immediate antiretroviral therapy. The Governor gave the charge on Wednesday at the inauguration of the State’s HIV Consortium Group held at Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Victoria Island. The event also featured the formal dissemination of dis-aggregated Nigeria HIV/AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS). Sanwo-Olu said the wanted HIV victims were diagnosed of the virus but they were not captured in the State’s HIV Response Database. A woman has gone online to express her displeasure after she ordered a fur coat only to receive a coat made of polyester. Mikala, 23. was scrolling through Instagram when she saw a sponsored post for a beautiful coat. The coat she ordered for the bargain price of $50.25 was meant to be made of thick and cosy pink fur, and printed with red hearts, but was she received was nothing like what was in the photo. She got an outfit which she describes as “a piece of paper with sleeves”. The material used in making the coat is so thin you can see through it. The stitching is also horrible. What she got was made of 95% polyester and 5% spandex, and not fur as she expected. She was so disappointed that she threw up the middle finger while taking a photo in the coat to share online. Mikala said she tried to get in touch with the brand Soleila to complain, using the customer service email she found on the website. The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has just threatened to deal with lecturers harassing students sexually in all the higher institutions of learning in the state. Speaking today at the 11th convocation ceremony of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Gov Abiodun emphasised that his administration would not condone any form of sexual intimidation or other vices in any of Ogun State-owned schools. Abiodun said he would exercise ‘the full weight of the law’ on any lecturer who takes sexual advantage of their students. He, however, commended the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, for the sensitisation and warning publications embarked upon on the pages of national dallies. He said the zero tolerance of the institution for sexual harassment is a pointer that indiscipline by any staff would not be condoned. Alelia Murphy, a 114-year-old former seamstress who had been recognized as the oldest living American, has died. Murphy, a New Yorker who was drawn to the city by the Harlem Renaissance, died a few days ago as confirmed by her granddaughter, Nefer Nekhet. “It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Mrs. Alelia Murphy,” the health care workers’ union 1199SEIU, of which Murphy’s daughter was a member, said in a statement. “Mrs. Murphy was the oldest living American, having celebrated her 114th birthday in July, surrounded by her family, friends, community leaders, and members of our AFRAM Caucus.” The cause of Murphy’s death was not immediately available. Murphy was 114 years, 140 days when she died, the Gerontology Research Group verified. Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Education Research and Development Council (NERDC), Professor Ismail Junaid , stated this on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at the launch of a new curriculum-based e-learning software, StudyMate . Represented by Eleri Nnanna Otu-Eleri , Junaidu said that the NERDC had monitored the entire process of developing the software and thus acknowledges the quality of the software for learning in schools. "StudyMate is offline so it does not require internet. It would aid teaching and learning, it would facilitate and help NERDC implement the national curriculum,” he said. The Pirates of the Caribbean star did not meet the November 15 deadline to produce all of the court-ordered records related to his drug and alcohol use , meaning that the jury trial has been postponed by six months, Deadline reported on Thursday (November 28). Instead of moving forward on February 3, 2020, the trial will begin on August 3, 2020. The judge cited “good cause shown by both sides,” agreeing to the motion from Amber , although her team reportedly only wanted an additional 60 days, not the approximately 180 day delay. It’s worth noting that Johnny is set to tour with his band Hollywood Vampires beginning on August 15, 2020, and it could see his lawyers asking for another date change.
