Leonard Cohen ‘s Estate has issued a statement just a day after the Republican National Convention played his iconic song “Hallelujah” twice during its closing night. The Estate says that the RNC did request to use the song, however, that request was denied. “We are surprised and dismayed that the RNC would proceed knowing that the Cohen Estate had specifically declined the RNC’s use request, and their rather brazen attempt to politicize and exploit in such an egregious manner ‘Hallelujah’, one of the most important songs in the Cohen song catalogue,” they shared in a statement, and added that “we are exploring our legal options.” Leonard ‘s Estate added, “Had the RNC requested another song, ‘You Want it Darker’, for which Leonard won a posthumous Grammy in 2017, we might have considered approval of that song.” After that denial, the RNC also reached out to Sony/ATV Music Publishing to play the song. Jennifer Lopez is looking back on her epic Super Bowl performance with Shakira earlier this year, thanks to an interview with fiance Alex Rodriguez . The engaged couple appeared on Barstool Sports’ The Corp podcast where they recalled what went into her headlining performance at the biggest sports event of the year, and just why Alex wasn’t speaking to her the day of. “We we went to the gym that morning and I was driving her and she was talking to me. I was ignoring her,” Alex recalled. “I was like, ‘I’m not getting in the way of anything. It’s your day and focus. We’ll talk Monday,’ and she was like, ‘You can still talk to me.’” Although, not talking to her seemed to work out as Jennifer was completely concentrated on the performance and all the prep work it took to get to that day. “Leading up to it was probably the most nerve-wracking—and Alex can attest to this—high stress moments of my whole career. Justin Bieber leads the way up the staircase to a private jet while getting ready to fly out of town with his wife Hailey on Friday (August 28) in Los Angeles. Earlier in the day, Hailey was seen stopping to get some juice after a workout. While we’re not sure where Justin and Hailey are heading, one possibility is that they’re on their way to New York City for the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards . Justin is not confirmed as a performer, but he is nominated for four awards, so there’s a chance he’ll be in attendance at the event. The awards that he is nominated for include Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration and Best Music Video from Home for “Stuck with U” with Ariana Grande , and Best Pop Video for “Intentions.” The couple held hands earlier this week while walking through a crowd of spectators after lunch.

Nick Robinson has joined Netflix’s new film, Maid , according to Deadline . The 25-year-old actor will star opposite Margaret Qualley in the upcoming movie, which centers on Alex ( Qualley ), a single mother who turns to housekeeping to—barely—make ends meet.
