How tragic!

In what police originally thought was a mass suicide plot, they’ve slapped a mother and her teen daughter with murder charges. According to NY Daily News, a medical examiner’s report found that four of the victims, including two 9-year-old twins, died of asphyxiation while another died of strangulation.

The bodies of the five family members were discovered Feb. 25 in an apartment in Morrisville, Pennsylvania.

Shana S. Decree, 45, and her daughter Dominique Decree, 19, were charged with five counts each of homicide and one count of conspiracy in the deaths of Shana Decree’s children, Naa’Irah Smith, 25, and Damon Decree Jr., 13 of Morrisville; Shana Decree’s sister, Jamilla Campbell, 42, of Trenton; and Campbell’s 9-year-old twin daughters, Imani and Erika Allen.

Family members told a local news station that some type of religious cult might have played a role, but police have not released any other details of their investigation.

The two suspects are scheduled to appear in court April 25 for a preliminary hearing.
