Ian Somerhalder Promotes New Netflix Vampire Show 'V-Wars'

Ian Somerhalder is teasing his upcoming Netflix series V-Wars!

The 40-year-old The Vampire Diaries actor took to Instagram on Wednesday (October 30) to share a heartfelt video with fans.

“Information on on my NEW SHOW #VWars is dropping TODAY on @nxonnetflix!” he captioned the video below. “Please go and check it out. Me and my team have worked so hard to bring you this show. Please share this and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“It’s been an insane day for me already,” he says in the clip. “We’re delivering the show to Netflix…my producing partner and I and our amazing team are delivering a show in full to Netflix. It’s my first time as a producer delivering something like this. But I hope you like it. I put my heart and my soul into this show. It’s been over a year of my life. It’s put me in the hospital! But it’s been an incredible journey, so please watch, and let me know what you think.”

Here’s the synopsis for V-Wars: “Dr. Luther Swann (Somerhalder) enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these ‘vampires.’ Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires.”

Season one – inspired by the bestselling books by Jonathan Maberry and executive produced by Ian Somerhalder – includes 10 episodes. It also stars Jacky Lai, Peter Outerbridge, Kyle Breitkopf, Kimberly-Sue Murray, Greg Bryck, and Anthony Grant.

Jussie Smollett is unlikely to return to Empire during the upcoming sixth season, but he is still showing support for the Fox series. The network just announced that the show has been renewed for a new season , but Jussie ‘s character Jamal will not be in any of the early episodes. His contract has been extended for the possibility of a return in the future. A representative for Jussie released a statement with his reaction to the news.
