Serena Williams Withdraws From Wimbledon After Suffering Injury 33 Minutes Into Match

Oh no! Serena Williams has been forced to withdraw from 2021 Wimbledon after suffering an injury to her knee on the court mid-match. Wimbledon 2021 just started, and this was Serena‘s very first match.

The 39-year-old tennis star was playing, and was about 30 minutes into her match, when she went to return a ball from her competitor, Aliaksandra Sasnovich. She slid on the court, and appeared to hurt her leg. The commentators have mentioned several times that the court is a bit slippery from rain.

She tried to return to the match, but after two more hits, she fell to the ground and seemingly knew she had to leave the match due to injury.

She looked so emotional as she waved to the crowd and walked off the court. She was in the middle of the match and was 3-3 in the first set.

We’re wishing Serena Williams well and hope she recovers soon!
