Police recover 2 AK-47 rifles, others in Delta

N200,000 was also recovered from the suspected criminals.

The Police Command in Delta says it has recovered two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and other ammunition from suspected armed robbers in Delta.

The acting spokesman of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement he made available to newsmen on Monday in Warri.

Edafe said that a sum of N200,000 was also recovered from the suspected criminals.

He explained that the Divisional Patrol team from Otu-Jeremi Police station received a call on Saturday that four suspected armed robbers who had earlier snatched two vehicles had abandoned them at Otokutu community.

"On August 28, 2021, at about 1730hrs, the Divisional patrol team from Otu-Jeremi police station in Ughelli South Local Government Area on the Egbo/Otokutu Road received information that four suspected armed robbers who had earlier snatched two vehicles, a Toyota Camry, with Registration Number: RSH 291 AW and a Lexus 350 jeep with Registration Number: WWR 737 KL, had abandoned the vehicles due to suspected mechanical faults and were escaping in a tricycle.

"The team swung into action and chased the hoodlums but the gang on sighting the police team opened fire on operatives.

"In the ensuing gun duel, the hoodlums were forced to abandon the tricycle. Two of them ran into the bush while two others were fatally wounded and found in the tricycle.

"One AK-47 rifle with an invisible breech number, an empty magazine, a sum of N200,000 and gold jewelries were recovered.

"The suspects who sustained gunshot injuries were rushed to the hospital where they gave up the ghost while receiving treatment," he said.

Edafe said that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Otu-jeremi Division, led a combined team of police/vigilante to further comb the bush for the possible arrest of the other fleeing members of the gang.

He said another AK-47 rifle with breach number NK344397, two magazines, and three live ammunition were recovered in the process, adding that manhunt for other members of the gang is ongoing.

Isro has shortlisted 15 firms to transfer the manufacturing technology of lithium-ion (Li ion) batteries for electric vehicles (EV). This move could make EVs cheaper, since imported Li ion batteries constitute the big expense factor of EVs. “We have communicated to the shortlisted firms that they will have to give a one-time fee of `1 crore. We have avoided firms with exposure to foreign equity in identifying the qualifying industrial houses or start-ups,” S Somanath, director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), the rocket sciences node of ISRO, told FE. “The final move will depend on their response,” he said, declining to name the firms. Sóller hike followed by a healthy vegan lunch

We got a group of friends together (of various ages and fitness levels) to hike around the hills surrounding the Mallorcan town of Sóller, in the northwest of the island. There are many quite easy trails but usually, it involves a bit of hiking up and downhill. We began our walk at the first roundabout after the tunnel and climbed for about 25 minutes uphill after that it was reasonably flat for the next hour or so. The final part was decent into the town of Sóller where we had booked a private vegan brunch for our group. Barbara and Martjin opened Ecocirer in March 2018 as a vegan hotel with 6 bedrooms in the town of Sóller. It is the ideal accommodation for a family celebration if you would like to enjoy healthy vegan food with plenty of activities to get you out into the beautiful nature surrounding the picturesque town. The expe...
